Cctv news(Reporter Wang Xiaoying) Learn Chinese calligraphy, mandolin and electronic organ … … Nearly 30 interest classes have enriched the students’ after-school life in the fourth primary school of Hezuo City, Gannan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture.

Founded in 1984, No.4 Primary School in Hezuo City, Gannan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, now has 1283 students, 69 Tibetan teachers, 23 Han teachers and 6 Hui teachers. It is a full-time boarding primary school with Tibet as the main teaching mode.

In order to enrich students’ spare time life and cultivate students’ interest, the school established the Rural Children’s Palace of the Fourth Primary School in Hezuo City. According to the existing conditions and students’ age, cognitive and psychological characteristics, nearly 30 interest groups have been established, such as instrumental music, Tibetan and Chinese calligraphy, chess, painting, dance, mandolin and football, and game activities such as sandbag and skipping rope have been carried out in the lower grades.

Zhang Hongrong, the principal of the Fourth Primary School in Hezuo City, said that the Children’s Palace provides concentrated counseling every Tuesday and Thursday afternoon according to the requirements of meeting the needs of students at school first and then radiating students from surrounding rural areas. At the same time, every day from 5 pm to 6 pm, all the function rooms of the rural children’s palace are open, and after-school activities are widely carried out for students, which is well received by parents.

It is understood that some of the four primary school students are children of the surrounding herdsmen and migrant workers. Zhang Hongrong said that herders are paying more and more attention to their children’s education, and many herders are even willing to go to the city to accompany them. The activities of the rural children’s palace are also very popular.

Zhang Hongrong said that the school attaches great importance to the education of national unity, puts the education of national unity on the important agenda of the school, and draws up the "Implementation Plan for the Education of National Unity in the Fourth Primary School of Hezuo City", which makes careful arrangements for how to carry out the education of national unity in the school. For example, teachers should teach students to respect national customs and establish a strong sense of national unity from the differences in clothing, architecture and diet between Han and Hui.

In Zhang Hongrong’s view, letting students know the traditions and cultures of all ethnic groups from an early age, and integrating ethnic customs, the innovation of China by all ethnic groups, etc., has established the concept of children’s national unity in a subtle way.

In 2013, the school won the title of Gannan National Unity and Progress Demonstration Education Base, and in 2015, it was rated as a model collective of national unity by the Gansu Provincial Party Committee and the provincial government.
